“People danced and ran around groups of performers dressed in traditional costumes who “gently” slapped the crowd with sticks. It’s a way of spicing things up after all… I went around once - only because a local guy I liked did - and quickly found shelter next to a bunch of clowns who introduced me to canelazo, a traditional alcoholic beverage served right out of a gigantic hot pan for a dollar a cup.”
